Huh...

Yesterday, I saw a seeing-eye dog being taken outside to pee. I'd never before considered the fact that seeing-eye dogs are still dogs with basic dog needs. But it stands to reason, I guess.

Comments:
I wonder if the seeing-eye dog was taken outside to empty his/her bowels - how would the master use the pooper scooper?

Or if the blind person had two handicapped dogs no pooper scooper would be needed. They would take care each other's poop.

Hello,
I am totally blind, and I have a black lab guide dog from the Seeing Eye. The dog relieves on command, which is park time. It doesn't happen right away; sometimes I am outside for 20 minutes or more. You walk the dog around in a circle around your body and repeat park time until he or she goes. When the dog peas, there is a slight dip between its shoulder blades. When it poops, it spins before relieving; there is an arch in its back, so I can tell when my dog is going. Sometimes, my dog tries to walk while she is pooping, but I take care of this by holding the collar and telling her to rest. After she is finished, I take a baggie, put it on my hand like a glove, turn it inside out to pick up, and throw it away. It would be bad if the dog tried to clean up after itself because of sickness ETC, so we always clean up after our dogs.
