More about gardening

Untitled-2

I've been really pleased about how pretty our garden is looking. It turns out, though, that these purple flowers are weeds.

Dang. Even your weeds are classier than ours.

There is nothing wrong with weeds and yours need not be pulled for that reason alone. I used to like this one so much that I trimmed spent flowers to encourage rebloom. The damn thing always knew to grow in places where nothing else would take off. The trouble is that that particular weed is extrememly invasive, so keep it out of your flower bed. I knew it was time for me to move when I looked at my flower beds and noted that there were more pretty weeds in it than pretty flowers.

Well, if you've been to Jung's enough times, you've certainly heard someone on the staff use some variation of this tired line:

"A weed is just a plant you don't want."

So...if you want these purple flowers, they're not weeds!

Hmm...they sure look like ladybells (Adenophora confusa) to me. Perhaps an escaped perennial? They are prolific, but treasured in many gardens in these here parts.

Cheers!

Yes, depends on what your definition of a weed is. Call them plants.

wdsrus = weeds r us

Oscar,
We have some purple flowers just like those in our front yard. I have no idea where they came from, since they have resided here since before we bought our house. They are very pretty. As a matter of fact, I just cut myself a little bouquet!
I also like the yellow ones that look like miniature snap dragons.

Naw, they're a form of campanula, and they are wildflowers.
Even dandelions are considered wildflowerse, but of course, some are more invasive than others.
